The Crossing is a 4’ x 20” flat woven tapestry depicting a road motif. This two-laned highway has a small period of crossing. Throughout the weaving, the structure comes apart into sections, creating waves and rifts in the fabric, and moments of unease. What is familiar is rendered strange, what is safe becomes unsafe. By deconstructing the form into separate segments, the road also becomes a way of mapping the elements of a moment– finding the place when it becomes undone.
